Julia Vander Ploeg

Julia is currently Vice President of Digital at Volvo Car Corporation, where she is spearheading the company’s digital transformation efforts. In this role, she is leading a significant evolution of the company’s consumer and enterprise digital business plans, changing the structure of agile software development teams, implementing new digital commerce business models, and re-shaping the company’s digital technology funding model and governance.

Prior to Volvo, Julia was Vice President of Digital for McDonald’s USA, where she designed and hired in the organization’s first native digital team, establishing its first strategic digital product roadmap and establishing the launch of mobile ordering at 14,000 restaurants nationwide. Previously, Julia was the General Manager of TicketsNow, a start-up in the resale ticketing space that was acquired by Ticketmaster in 2008. As the leader of the resale business unit overseeing all operations and managing the P&L, she drove significant growth in sales and operating income during her tenure. Julia has a diverse background of leadership experiences across the disciplines of digital commerce, finance, marketing, and strategy, and has also served in key positions at Tribune Company, Mills Corporation, United Airlines, and Ford Motor Company. In addition to her position on the board of Radio Systems Corporation, she is also on the board of JB Training Solutions in Chicago, IL.

A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Julia received her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. She currently serves as a Governing Member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and is on the Marketing Leadership Advisory Board of Michigan State University.
